Za’atar Pitta Bread with a Yoghurt Dip makes a nice snack to serve with drinks or as a starter, perhaps with some olives, or as part of a mezze.
2 large pitta breads (or 4 small)
4 tbsp olive oil
4 tbsp Go Spice Za’atar spice mix
250ml plain Greek yoghurt
1 tbsp fresh chopped mint
1 small clove garlic, grated
⅛ tsp salt
Preheat the oven to 180C (Gas Mark 4). Combine the Go Spice Za’atar spice mix and the olive oil in a small bowl to form a paste. Cut one of the pitta breads around the edge to create two rounds and repeat with the remaining breads. Place them on a baking tray. Spread the paste over the rough sides of the pitta rounds using the back of a spoon. Bake in the oven for about 5-7 mintues, until the edges are golden. Allow to cool slightly and then cut into wedges. Meanwhile, make the dip by combining the yoghurt, mint, garlic and salt in a small bowl.
