Sumac is commonly used in Middle Eastern cuisine. It has a delicious tangy taste, a deep red colour and can be used in place of lemons as a souring agent. Sumac can be used as a seasoning or sprinkle for salads, rice and hummus in the same way as paprika. It also makes a tasty rub for meat and fish, is a delicious addition to tagines and stews and when added to minted yoghurt makes a tasty dip.
Please note that our sumac contains a small amount of salt.
