Black Sesame is similar to White Sesame but the seeds hull has not been removed which leaves them a little more flavoursome and aromatic, particularly when lightly roasted. Black Sesame is often used in Chinese and Japanese cuisine for decorative as well as flavoursome purposes and mixed or sprinkled in salads, sauces, cakes and confectionary. In Japan Black Sesame is added to salt to make the popular table condiment goma-shio.
