As its name suggests, Allspice resembles a mix of many other spices and is like a mellow combination of cinnamon, clove and nutmeg. It has a warm and fragrant aroma and tastes pungent and peppery. Allspice is used to flavour meat dishes, pickles, sauces, stuffings, puddings, fruit pies and cakes. In Jamaica it’s an important ingredient in the famous jerk rub and is often added to Mexican moles (sauces).
