Chickpea Curry is quick to prepare and is a delicious accompaniment as part of a curry meal or as a simple supper dish with rice or chapatis. Chickpeas have a lovely nutty flavour and the mixture of our Go Spice Blends compliment them perfectly.
Suggested Go Spice Blends: Jammu, Kerala, Newar, Bangla, Shikara, Shimla
Serves 2-4
1½ tbsp ghee or vegetable oil
1 medium sized red onion, finely chopped
2-3 tsp Go Spice Blend
¼ tsp salt
1 tin chopped tomatoes
2 x 400g can chickpeas (240g drained), drained
Warm the oil over a medium heat in a large frying pan or karahi and cook the onions for about 5 -10 minutes until starting to brown and soften. Add the Go Spice Blend and stir fry for a minute to release the essential oils from the spices.
Add the tomatoes to the pan and stir in, cooking for 2 minutes, before adding the salt and the chickpeas. Heat the chickpeas through for about 5-6 minutes, stirring occasionally. Serve hot.
